HOD Message
Welcome all in SSIET, Ghogaon.
On behalf of Basic Science and Humanities Department, I am here to brief you about activities and roll of Basic Science and Humanities Department. BS&H Department is taking care of first year engineering students. The main roll of first year engineering department is to prepare students sound fundamentals in Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry. These sound fundamentals will help them to take challenges and develop their higher level to solve problems in their chosen field of discipline. Along with this we also offer interdisciplinary courses like Engineering Graphics, Programming in C, Basic Electrical and Electronics Engineering which are the courses included in their whole program. They should have knowledge in these courses, so we prepare them in interdisciplinary courses to take of the challenges of higher level.
It is also important that the first year students are prepared for good soft skills mainly in communication, creativity, problem solving, leadership and team management. We give major focus on their development of communication skill by identical listening and speaking in English. Our language experts are providing variety of challenges and methods to develop their communication skills.
We also inbuilt good human values in them to become good citizen and human beings. With good values and ethics they will be work in the industries and understand challenges of the society and they will become successful in their professional as well as personal life.
Along with this at first year level we are also giving focus to improve their hand skills. We have Workshop Practice where we give chance to students to prepare products through working by metal joining process, for fabrication process. So with good gazettes they design and manufacture it and they can innovate and take part in inventions.
So at first year engineering department, we see that the platform of first year students will be built their foundation that whenever they will be for higher level of engineering program, they should be easily survive and face the challenges as the requirements of the industries.
